A very well received play written especially for the Laugharne Festival by Jackie Cornwall and performed by members of the Everyman Theatre (Cardiff).
Laugharne is probably the best place and also the worst place to perform this emotionally descriptive play. It is so appropriate to stage it in Laugharne, the Township which was so important to them both, and only 500 yards from where they now rest. On the other side, there are many people still living in Laugharne who remember them and no play could match their memories, especially one whose aim was not to portray a visual likeness.
The play focused on the later years of Caitlin's life, interspersed with memories as she overcame alchoholism. It not only offered an insight into their lives, but touched on serious issues within their relationship in entertaining and thought provoking ways.
Carmarthen Journal - 30th August 2006
Laugharne Festival Committee would like to thank all those involved in our triennial festival to raise money for the Cors Field. A special thanks to Carol Thomas who had the brilliant idea of putting on Under Milk Wood with local people, and to Jackie Cornwall who wrote the Caitlin and Dylan Play, and the actors from Everyman who came to perform for us. Many thanks to the people Who actually knew Dylan and Caitlin whilst they lived in Laugharne, who gave up their time to speak to Maggie NiCholls who did the research for the play, especially Dilys Jones and Sheila Williams, and to Kitty John for verifying the accuracy after seeing the play. She said: "It was very, very true". Also there was a gentleman present on Friday who knew Caitlin very well, he said that it had been very well done and the performance was very true to life.
